The Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) and the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) are pleased to announce the preparation of a special issue of Disasters journal on humanitarian history.
The issue will offer a selection of academic histories written with a view to engaging a practitioner audience. Articles are invited on any topic related to the past practice of humanitarian action around the globe. Preference will be given to studies that highlight their relevance to debates of interest to current practice and policy debates.
The resulting themed issue will be published as a supplement of Disasters journal. Authors are invited to submit abstracts of 300-500 words by 10 March 2013, outlining the proposed article and briefly drawing attention to the way in which the research will be of relevance to current practice. Selected authors will then be invited to submit articles of 5,000-8,000 words. Co-authored articles are welcomed, particularly collaborations between researchers and practitioners.
Please submit your proposal to disasters.special@odi.org.uk.
