The editor of Boone’s Lick Heritage Quarterly welcomes submissions of articles, photographs, art and annotated documents relating to the history of the Boonslick (AKA Boone’s Lick) Region of Missouri. The Boonslick Region is geographically defined as: an area extending from Danville in Montgomery County on the east side of the state to Lafayette County on the west, and from counties along the Missouri River (Callaway, Boone, Howard, Cooper, Saline) north to Carroll, Chariton, Randolph, Monroe, Audrain, and Pike. The historical Boone’s Lick Road led from St. Louis/St. Charles westward to Old Franklin, and was the forerunner of the Santa Fé Trail.
Any aspect of Boonslick Region history, including family histories, will be considered for publication. Manuscripts pertaining to American or Missouri History will be considered if the subject matter has significant relevance to the history of the Boonslick Region, e.g., the Santa Fe Trail.
Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically, preferably in Microsoft Word. Text and notes should be doubled spaced, with notes prepared according to The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition. Originality of subject, general interest of the article, sources and interpretations, and style are of concern. Manuscript length, exclusive of notes, can go to 6,000 words (longer manuscripts will be considered for serial publication). Original manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere are preferred but previously published articles will be considered (and credited) if no reprint fee is required. Boone’s Lick Heritage is published quarterly (March, June, September and December) by the non-profit Boonslick Historical Association (BHS, established in 1937), P.O. Box 426, Boonville, MO 65233. On original manuscripts, BHS asks for First North American Serial Rights. All submissions are considered as contributions to the Quarterly. The Society does not accept responsibility for statements of fact or opinion made by authors or book reviewers.
