While the economic, social, and political struggles of the post-war United States were largely framed by the global dynamics of the Cold War, a different paradigm emerged during the 1970s and was firmly entrenched by the collapse of the Soviet Union. This panel seeks to explore some of the many crises created or exacerbated by neoliberal domestic policies during this period.

We are specifically looking for papers that examine broad neoliberal trends at their points of impact (the struggles of actual people), but we are also open to studies that use other lenses.

Possible paper topics that would fit well with our panel include:

* mass incarceration,
* “color-blind” racism,
* immigration policy,
* Cold War to post-Cold War militarism,
* the religious Right,
* Citizens United and corporate personhood,
* the war on drugs,
* marriage equality,
* corporate mergers and the “too big to fail” principle,
* neoliberal globalization,
* food politics,
* feminisms,
* organized labor,
* etc.
