I am seeking panelists to create a paper session for the 2014 OAH conference in Atlanta about spatial expressions of race. I am interested in partnering with those considering some facet of the relationship between space and race, including (but not limited to) questions of spatial access, residential segregation, and city planning.
My paper will explore how racial discourse is reflected in public spaces in 20th century Baltimore. Work on other time periods and locations is welcome. I am especially interesting in finding others who are incorporating material culture, discursive analysis, or sociological methods in their projects.
Proposals are due to the OAH by February 28, 2013. If you are interested, please email me with a brief summary of your research and potential topic by February 15 to sdpatenaude@gmail.com
