Economy and Society in Central and Eastern Europe.
Territory, Population, Consumption
The conference aims at deepening a current problem, namely the transformation of society and its influence on economy modernization, within the Central and Eastern Europe’s spaces marked by an obvious diversity. The main objective is to detect possible interferences, influences or divergences between the progresses recorded in this part of Europe, starting in pre-modernity, very useful for understanding contemporary trends.
The debates will consider, in an interdisciplinary manner (by using the methodological suggestions offered by demography, sociology, cultural anthropology, social history of knowledge, social history of art, religion sociology, etc.), the following topics:
• Politics, administration and territorial reorganization
• Population mobility and the use of the resources
• Trade and consumption (basic food and luxury products, elite culture and popular culture, religious art).
