Seeking panelists for AHA 2014 to present research dealing with Gender Prior to 1500 in any World Region or in a Global Historical Perspective
We are looking for historians who do research on gender prior to 1500 to form at least one or possibly two panels on gender in early world history for the American Historical Association, January 2014 - Washington, DC. We are historians of Africa and do research on gender dynamics in early African history, but we would like to form a regionally diverse panel and develop and larger conversation on gender in early history. The panel or panels could look at gender, gender concepts and gendered history from earlier periods in the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe. Most research done on gender is from the more recent periods, thus panels that center gender in various parts of the world during earlier eras would help to fill a large gap in world historiography.
