All scholars are invited to present proposals of a 20 minutes presentation (in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French) to integrate the panel “Rumo ao Oriente, espaços poéticos da diápora portuguesa em Macau e na China”. This panel will be propose to the International Conference “Exploring the Portuguese Diáspora in InterDISCIPLINARY and Comparative Perspectives: An International Conference” (Butler University, Indianápolis, EUA, July 25-27th, 2013)

The aim of this panel is to discuss the literary, historical, sociological and cultural representations of Portuguese diaspora in Asia, particularly in China and Macau), and also the representations of the exile and diasporas presents in the works of the Portuguese writers who lived in these countries.
Possible themes include the following:
- Diaspora and creative writing in Macau and China
-The geography of the Portuguese diaspora in Asia
-Comparative diaspora studies
-Literary representations and stereotypes of the Portuguese diaspora in Asia
-The exile in the Portuguese immigrant writers in China and Macau (for exemple: Maria Ondina Braga, Fernanda Dias, Jorge Arrimar, Rodrigo Leal de Carvalho, etc.)
- Portuguese diáspora: identity and alterity in Macau and China
- Writing the portuguese diaspora
- Other aspects of the Portuguese diaspora in Asia
