Centre for German-African Scientific Cooperation
The Centre for German-African Scientific Cooperation at the University of Yaoundé I in Cameroon was officially launched on the 28th of February 2012. The Centre deals as a new interface for the scientific connection of scientists, university lecturers and research institutes in line with the promotion of academic and scientific excellence within the African continent and between African and international, particularly German Universities. The main purposes of the centre are:
1. Training and the promotion or improvement of scientific capacity
2. The production of knowledge through the raising of scientists teams, and the networking of different projects that have been or are currently conducted in cooperation with German or other international research institutions.
3. Documentation which includes:
- Constitution of Online Colonial Archives
- Constitution of a virtual Library that grants African Scientists Access to the international scientific production.
- Making scientific production from Africa visible and available worldwide.
- Supply of documentation for the study of African History and Culture. The documentation will first be limited to Cameroon, but it is planed to enclose other African countries.
4. Allocation of facilities and equipment for the organisation of scientific events.
International partners of the DAW-Zentrum are the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Fritz-Thyssen Stiftung für Wissenschaftsförderung, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Goethe-Institut, the University of Leipzig among others.

Zentrum für Deutsch-Afrikanische Wissenschaftskooperation
Das Zentrum für Deutsch-Afrikanische Wissenschaftskooperation (DAW-Zentrum) an der Universität Yaoundé I in Kamerun wurde im Frühjahr 2012 eröffnet. Es ist eine neue Schnittstelle für Wissenschaftler, Akademiker und Forschungsinstitute im Rahmen der Exzellenzförderung zwischen Afrika und der Welt, insbesondere Deutschland. Zielsetzungen des Zentrums sind u.a.: v
1. Die Ausbildung und die Förderung von wissenschaftlicher Kompetenz;
2. Die Produktion von Wissen durch das Zusammenstellen von internationalen Forschungsteams in allen Bereichen.
3. Die Dokumentation durch:
- Den Aufbau einer Online-Bibliothek und eines Online-Archivs , die Forschern in Afrika Zugang zur wissenschaftlichen Produktion weltweit ermöglichen sollen;
- Die Sichtbarmachung der wissenschaftlichen Produktion von afrikanischen Forschern.
- Die Bereitstellung von Dokumenten zur Erforschung afrikanischer Geschichte und Kultur. Diese Dokumentation wird zunächst auf Kamerun begrenzt sein, erzielt wird aber eine Erweiterung auf andere Länder.
4. Die Bereitstellung der Infrastruktur (Räume), und der Logistik (Präsentations- und Lehrmaterial etc…) zur Durchführung von wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen.

Centre pour la Coopération Scientifique entre l’Afrique et l’Allemagne
Inauguré le 28 Février 2012 mais entré en fonctionnement quelques mois avant, le Centre pour la Coopération Scientifique entre l’Afrique et l’Allemagne de l’Université de Yaoundé I au Cameroun est une nouvelle interface de connexion pour chercheurs, enseignants et instituts de recherches dans le cadre de la promotion de l’excellence scientifique entre l’Afrique et le monde, en particulier l’Allemagne. Les principaux objectifs du Centre sont :
1. La formation et la promotion de l’excellence en recherche scientifique.
2. La production de savoirs à travers la mise sur pieds d’équipes de chercheurs internationales impliquant tous les domaines de recherche.
3. La documentation à travers :
- La mise sur pieds d’archives numériques et d’une bibliothèque numérique pouvant donner aux chercheurs africains l’accès à la production scientifique internationale.
- La promotion de la production scientifique africaine à travers la diffusion des produits de la recherche.
- La mise à la disposition du monde scientifique de la documentation nécessaire à l’étude de l’histoire et des cultures africaines (Cette documentation se limite dans un premier temps au Cameroun, mais sera étendue aux autres pays).

4. L’allocation de locaux et de matériels pour l’ appui à l’organisation de rencontres scientifiques.
Les partenaires internationaux du DAW-Zentrum sont entre autres la Fondation Alexander von Humboldt, La Fritz-Thyssen-Stiftung für Wissenschaftsförderung, L’Office Allemand d’Échanges Académiques (DAAD), le Goethe-Institut, l’Université de Leipzig...
