NAVIGATING IDENTITIES IN THE SPANISH SPEAKING WORLD
The Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Toronto is pleased to
announce its 32nd Annual Levy-Wasteneys Graduate Symposium. This year’s event will feature the following
distinguished guest speaker:

We welcome proposals for 10-20 minute presentations that are related to the conference’s general theme. In
order to integrate different disciplines, we encourage proposals from any of the following fields: literature,
linguistics, philosophy, history, politics, cultural studies, cinema, visual arts, and drama.
Suggested topics include: bilingualism; first and second language acquisition; heritage language study; language
variation and change; linguistic theory; pragmatics; prosody; psycholinguistics; sociolinguistics; diaspora
studies; ethics; ethnography; experimental texts and writing; film studies; gender studies; performance theories;
queer theory; race studies; text and image; testimonial literature; theatre and representations.
Abstracts must not exceed 500 words and should be written in English or Spanish. We also request a short
CV of the author.
The deadline for submissions is 8 February 2013
