I am looking to create a panel for the 2014 AHA which will focus on Gilded Age/Progressive Era liberalism in the context of social issues and intellectual discourse. I am especially interested in gathering panelists who endeavor to look at liberalism in a way that differs from its conceptualization as a mode of political economy. Specifically, what were alternative ways that liberals shaped society? This could be through discourse over religion, science, gender roles, free speech, or social/cultural radicalism.
I am also open to participating in similar panels in other conferences during 2013-14
If interested, please contact me at sms07w@my.fsu.edu as soon as possible.
