Seminar Leaders: Professor Mitchell Hart and Professor Nina Caputo, Department of History, University of Florida
This Oxford Seminar in Advanced Jewish Studies will examine when and how Jews were considered reliable or trustworthy in the realm of the law, but also in a host of other realms, including medicine, politics, academia, culture (particularly the art world), and business and finance. We invite proposals dealing with relevant subject matter from any period in Jewish history.
Weekly seminars will be convened through the duration of two Oxford terms, 14 October to 6 December 2013 and 20 January to 14 March 2014. These will offer a forum for the fellows to address central research topics related to the overall theme of the project. Scholars may apply to be in residence for shorter periods of time (between one and three months), provided that their stay falls within an Oxford University term (13 October-7 December or 19 January-15 March).
Visiting Fellows will receive free accommodation on the Yarnton Manor Estate and a stipend of 750 pounds sterling (pro rata) per calendar month during the period of their tenure. Travel expenses up to 500 pounds sterling will also be provided.
