Call for Papers
The 13th Annual Meeting of the Department of History Graduate Student Association
Miami, FL, March 29-30, 2013
The Department of History Graduate Student Association (DOHGSA) is pleased to announce our 13th annual graduate student conference.
The conference theme is “Among Four Shores: Change and Exchange in the Atlantic World,” highlighting the interplay and exchange of ideas, people and commodities between the Atlantic continents. Papers focusing on other topics may be considered on their merits.
The keynote speaker for this conference will be Professor of History Andrew C. Isenburg from Temple University. His research focuses on environmental history, the history of the American West, and the history of encounters between settlers and natives in North America. His current biographical work, Wyatt Earp: A Vigilante Life, is due to be released in the summer of 2013.
We encourage a diverse group of participants to present their work and we are interested in papers which employ a variety of disciplinary or methodological approaches to Atlantic history. For this year in particular, we are especially interested in papers from an environmental history perspective. We are also seeking graduate students willing to serve on discussion panels.
All paper and panel proposals must be submitted no later than February 23rd, 2012.
Paper Proposals
Please limit your proposal to a 300 word abstract. This proposal should include a working title and a brief description of the topic to be discussed, including a clear statement as to the central thesis of the paper. Each application should be accompanied by a current curriculum vitae.

Please include a single page description of the envisioned panel topic. Each submission must include a panel title, a list of proposed panelists with their contact information, a brief description of the purpose and theme of the panel, a one-paragraph abstract of each of the papers, a one-page curriculum vitae for each panelist, commentator and chair.
