7 MARCH 2013, WIENER LIBRARY, LONDON
To mark the recent transfer of the Board of Deputies’ Jewish defence archive – a large and important collection, hitherto largely inaccessible, of material on British fascism and Anglo-Jewish anti-fascism – to the Wiener Library, a one-day conference on British fascism, anti-fascism and Jewish defence will be held. The majority of speakers have been approached by invitation. However, the organisers would like to offer other researchers working in relevant areas the opportunity to contribute.
We welcome brief abstracts (max. 250 words) proposing papers of between 20 and 30 minutes, along with a short biographical note. Topics can fall anywhere within the broad fields of British fascism and anti-fascism, and may cover any period from the 1920s onwards. Preference will, however, be given to papers that focus to some extent on fascist antisemitism and/or Anglo-Jewish responses to fascism, and in particular those that employ material from the Board’s defence archive.
