The Global Health Program, the College of Health Sciences and Professions and the African Studies Program of Ohio University are sponsoring an international conference, “Women and Children’s Health in Africa: clinical and social perspectives,” in order to raise awareness of the status of women and children’s health across the continent and assess efforts to;
1) reduce child mortality and
2) improve maternal health and that of all women in Africa.
Guest speakers will include Ms Edna Aden, recently featured in the PBS program, Half the Sky and founder of the Edna Maternity Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland and Dr. Na_sa Bedri, noted campaigner against female circumcision and Dean at the Ahfad University for Women, Omdurman, Sudan. We invite practitioners, scholars, interested students to prepare poster presentations for a special conference session.
