Greetings,
I am seeking panelists to participate in a session on women, sex/sex work, and the nineteenth-century market at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Organization of American Historians (Atlanta, Ga in March 2014) or the American Historical Association’s 2014 Annual Meeting (Washington, DC in January 2014).
My paper will explore the legal and economic dimensions of female brothel ownership in nineteenth-century New Orleans and the ways these businesswomen benefited from the city’s slave trade. I ask interested scholars whose work takes up the proposed panel theme and whose research might complement my paper to contact me via email at Stephanie-Jones-Rogers@uiowa.edu as soon as possible but no later than January 15, 2013.
The AHA and the OAH’s submission deadlines are on February 15, 2013.
