We are looking to put together a panel for Console-ing Passions taking place at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK – June 23-25, 2013). Our panel is titled Reconstituting Race and Gender in the Digital Age, and we are looking for two panelists interested in presenting a paper in this area. For the purposes of this panel digital media may be defined to include a variety of electronic media, such as gaming, Internet, and mobile technologies. Potential papers should include some facet of digital media as the object of study and can come from a wide range of interests not limited to the exploration of body image, racialized and sexualized bodies, politics of representation, contested identity formation, and social justice. All research approaches, including ethnographic and other qualitative methods, are welcome.
