Second Student Anthropological Film Festival «KinoAnthrop» will take place on April 15-20, 2013 in Ekaterinburg on the premises of the Ural Federal University and the Ekaterinburg Cinema House
Anthropological films are films about people and cultures, religions and rituals, friendships and antagonisms; about the meaning of ‘I’ and ‘we’, about communities and their cultural heritage. This is the cinematographic study of human beings in their awareness of themselves. Anthropological film is the combination of the magic of cinematographic expression and rigorous scientific inquiry.
KinoAnthrop is the festival for students interested in anthropological film-making.
KinoAnthrop is the affiliate of RAFF (Russian Anthropological Film Festival).
KinoAnthrop is an international film festival open to students from all countries.
KinoAnthrop is organized by students of the Ural Federal University.
The festival’s contest program includes short documentaries on anthropological themes by both Russian and foreign authors made in 2010-2013. The length of a film is limited to 13 minutes. Number of films submitted by one applicant is unlimited.
Kinoanthrop will take place back to back with RAFF. The organizers of the Kinoanthrop seek to create a bridge between established professionals and young filmmakers. Participants of the professional competition will evaluate students’ works, while at the same time the participants of the student film contest will join discussions on pictures made by professionals. In addition to the contest program, the master classes by top professionals in anthropological filmmaking will take place, as well as the excursion program of Ekaterinburg and vicinities.
The decisions on the Festival Awards will be made by a professional jury, the sponsors and the audience of the festival.
