“Border Crossings: The Detroit River Region in the War of 1812” Symposium,
Detroit Historical Museum, Sat., Dec. 8, 9:00am-3:30pm
In conjunction with Wayne State University, the Detroit Historical Society invites you to delve into the
history of the War of 1812 and its affect on Detroit. This day-long symposium will include two break-out
sessions, a keynote presentation by Alan Taylor and lunch. Taylor is Professor of History at the University
of California Davis. His most recent book, The Civil War of 1812, has drawn widespread praise. “Border
Crossings: The Detroit River Region in the War of 1812”, edited by Denver Brunsman, Joel Stone and
Douglas Fisher, lll be available for sale during the event. This book is a compilation of the essays
presented during the symposium. Special thanks to Community Engagement@Wayne and the Daughters
of the American Revolution Louis St. Clair Chapter for sponsoring this special program!
