The Stockholm Arctic seminar is a seminar series arranged by the MISTRA funded Assessing Arctic Futures: Voices, Resources and Governance programme. Klaus Dodds has written and lectured extensively on the geopolitics of both the Arctic and the Antarctic, in addition to being one of the most important contemporary scholars in the field of political geography. His books include Pink Ice: Britain and the South Atlantic Empire; Antarctic Geopolitics: Views from the Southern Ocean Rim; and the forthcoming Ashgate Companion to Critical Geopolitics. He has also published a series of articles on the contemporary Arctic, including ‘Anticipating the Arctic and the Arctic Council: pre-emption, precaution and preparedness’; ‘A Polar Mediterranean? Accessibility, Resources and Sovereignty in the Arctic Ocean’; and ‘Flag Waving and Finger Pointing: the Law of the Sea, the Arctic and the Political Geographies of the Outer Continental Shelf’. Professor Dodds serves as Editor of the Geographical Journal and a 2005 winner of the Philip Leverhulme Prize for his achievements in geopolitics and human geography.
