Eastern Europe is a region which has often been considered East of the Western world and West of the Eastern civilizations. Polymath’s 2013 special issue, Focus on Eastern Europe, is intended to showcase some of the complexities of the geopolitics, history, cultures, and relationships of the region. Scholarly papers from any discipline are welcome. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:
• the region’s configuration during various periods
• relationships among nations in the region and between these and nations in other regions
• economic, social, political, and artistic aspects of the region or of various nations in the region
• the communist regimes and the postcommunist transitions in the region
• human rights and social justice issues of the region
• the development of traditional and new media in the region
• diasporas from Eastern Europe
Papers should be submitted no later than January 15, 2013. Questions regarding article content for the special issue should be directed to the guest editor, Dr. Sorin Nastasia at snastas@siue.edu.
