"The Portugese in Bruges and Antwerp in the 15th and 16th centuries" by Dr. Jaques Paviot of the Université Paris-Est Créteil is the first lecture in a series of three lectures by French scholars on specific aspects of Burgundian art and will take place on Nov. 15 at 3 pm at the Vriendenzaal, Groeningemuseum, Dijver 12, in 8000 Bruges (Belgium). The lecture will be in French. The other lectures will take place on December 6 and 13.
For the first series of the "Lectures from the Flerc" three experts from French universities have been invited to present their recent findings concerning specific aspects related to the Burgundian arts. The Flemish research centre for the arts in the Burgundian Netherlands was established in 2010 by the Groeningemuseum and the Flemish Art Collection. The aim of the Flerc is to establish itself as a premier research institute advancing and supporting research in the field of 15thand 16th century art of the Burgundian Netherlands.
