I am looking to form or join a panel on environmental or animal history for the SHEAR conference in St. Louis, July 18-21, 2013. My paper explores the concept of trespass by following both white-tail deer and their human pursuers across contested hunting grounds in the trans-Appalachian west from the late eighteenth century to the era of Indian removal. I would be happy to participate in any panel that addresses human-animal relationships, or more broadly, human-environment interactions in the early American republic. Deadline for SHEAR proposals is Dec. 1, 2012.
