Registration is now open for our forthcoming conference on "Occultism, Magic and the History of Art", to be held at the University of Cambridge on 3-4 December 2012. The keynote lecture (entitled "The Sexualisation of the Virgin Mary: Hieratic Religious Art in Alchemical Context") will be given by Dr Urszula Szulakowska, an international expert on alchemy and esoteric symbolism.
Overall, 20 papers from current and recent graduate students will explore aspects of the occult in medieval, early modern and modern & contemporary visual culture, providing a stimulating platform for scholarly discussion and exchange as well as a unique and prestigious platform for the presentation of cutting-edge research on a topic that should be of great interest to students and researchers of a variety of disciplines.
The conference fee of £30.00 includes a light lunch and two coffee breaks on each day of the conference as well as a wine reception at the end of Day 2.
To register, please send an e-mail to Daniel Zamani (dcjz2@cam.ac.uk) asking for a registration form and details about the payment of the conference fee. Deadline for registration is the 15th of November 2012.
