Critical cluster on Gardens
La Corónica invites scholars to submit a paper for a cluster entitled “Gardens in Medieval Iberia”.
Garden representations abond in Spanish Medieval literature, sometimes they provide the framework for amorous narratives, as in the case of the Romance de don Bueso, Razón de amor or La Celestina. This cluster will investigate the narrative representation of nature, or how gardens allowed to stage relationships within the social culture of the Middle Ages. The guest editors would like to address all aspects of garden culture in a broad spread of periods covering the whole of the Middle Ages.
Possible topics include:
cultural memory and religious identity
discourses of memory
garden symbolism
identity and the garden
garden space and power
Those interested should indicate their intention to submit an article (including a title and abstract) to one of the guest editors of the volume, Adriano Duque (aduque@villanova.edu), Ryan Giles (rgiles@uchicago.edu) or Cristina Guardiola (cmgm@udel.edu) as soon as possible. Articles must be submitted to the guest editors by May 2012 and will be evaluated through anonymous peer review. Those selected will be published in La corónica in Spring 2014. The recommended length for submissions is 7000 words. All submissions should adhere to La corónica’s style recommendations ().
