The Body and Physical Difference Area of the Popular Culture Association is issuing a call for papers for the national meeting, to be held March 27-30, 2013, in Washington D.C. This topic is broadly interdisciplinary in nature, but all papers should engage three concerns central to this area of study:
1) How and why society writes a particular meaning onto bodies
2) What those meanings are
3) The impact that this process has on the bodies so inscribed.
Proposals of 200-250 words must be submitted online at the PCAACA website http://www.pcaaca.org/conference/instructions.php
Deadline for paper and panel proposals is November 30, 2012.
Additional inquiries may be addressed to Lori Kelly at lkelly@carrollu.edu.
