Call for chapter proposals: Classics and Early Anthropology
Call for chapter proposals for an edited volume on the reception of classical material and scholarship in 19th- and early 20th-century anthropology.
The volume will develop a nuanced picture of the reception of classics in early anthropology, by providing multiple and specific examples of the use of classical material and scholarship. The editor, therefore, is looking for contributions dedicated to key topical issues or scholars and that present specific and detailed illustrations of the use, interpretation, and influence of classical material and/or scholarship in the major themes, ideas, questions, and debates of 19th- and early 20th-century anthropology (defined broadly). The volume is intended for publication in a new series in a well established academic press.
Please contact the editor at the email address provided for more information. A 300-400 word proposal outlining the subject and scope of the proposed chapter and a current CV are requested by October 29, 2012.
