Origins: Current Events in Historical Perspective has published its October issue featuring Dr. Alice Conklin of OSU. Her article, "Socialism Takes Over France, Again?" examines the historical roots of the recent rise of the socialist party in France. Rather than an extreme shift to “socialism,” she argues, French politics in the post-WWII era have been marked by a broad consensus across party lines over social policy and the basic architecture of the French welfare state.
Origins is a free monthly public history magazine that’s ad-free and features top scholars on today’s most pressing topics. Past Origins articles, available free online, have been read and distributed by the Georgian president, General David Petraeus, and high school social studies teachers.
