We are kindly invite you to submit a paper for workshop "Revisiting the Foundational Concepts and Thoughts in Islamic Economics" which will be held at 1-3 March, 2013 in Istanbul- Turkey. Detailed information is given below. Please Don't hesitate to ask if you need more information.
ILKE Association of Science Culture Education, Association of Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics (IGIAD), and Scientific Studies Association (ILEM) are organizing a workshop on Basic Concepts and Thoughts in Islamic Economics by March 1-3, 2013 at Istanbul. This first workshop will be furthered in 2014 on Microeconomic Subjects in Islamic Economics. In the workshop the presentations made by prominent scholars on the aim, basics, topics, determination and limits of the Islamic economics will be debated by appointed discussants and participants. The outputs of the workshop will be published as a book in the languages of English and Turkish.
At the workshop the following basic topics are aimed to be debated:
- Can Islamic economics be spoken of? How could it be defined If the existence of it is accepted? What are the fundamentals that it stands up to and its dimensions?
- Can Islamic economics be defined as a system? If it does, what kind of models we may speak of in terms of consumption and distribution relations? In this respect, can we, indeed, speak of Islamic Political Economy?
- How are the methodological foundations and limits of Islamic economics?
- How should the relation be established with fiqh? How can the economists make use of fiqh?
- Which subjects should the Islamic economics deal with? What should be its priorities?
- Where should the Islamic economics originate in in terms of theoretical content? How should be the philosophical background along with economics?
- How to establish the relation between Islamic economics and social structure such as understanding of religion and morality, perception of consumption-income?
- What kinds of transformations have occurred in idealist approach before 80s and in today current situation?
- What is the current situation of Islamic economics studies today, and what is the future of them
- How do the transformations of mainstream economics reverberate to Islamic economics? Is it possible to speak of financialization of Islamic economics?
We are inviting scholars for presenting a paper in this first workshop. Each paper will be discussed by two discussants and the other participants. By this, we aim to create an interaction and base for new thinking. Please send us exact topic with an extended abstract in 400 words until November 11, 2012 at iew@ilmietudler.org
