New York History: Quarterly Journal of the New York State Historical Association, the only scholarly journal devoted entirely to the history of New York State, invites submissions. Submissions dealing with all topics related to New York State are encouraged. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the history of Native peoples in New York (from the colonial era to the present); colonial New York; issues of race, ethnicity, class, and gender in New York's history; and New York in the twentieth century. We also are soliciting essays for special issues devoted to New York and the War of 1812, New York and the Civil War, and the environmental history of New York.
New York History (ISSN 0146-437X) is published four times a year by the New York State Historical Association and the State University of New York at Oneonta. Articles, around 4500 words in length, should be typed, double-spaced, and submitted with double-spaced endnotes conforming to the Chicago Manual of Style. We ask authors to provide two hard copies of the manuscript as well as an electronic copy. Both versions can be submitted to:
