Call to research students/early career researchers
Identifications of ‘the Jew’ in music
As part of its colloquium on Christian Anti-Judaism in Baroque Music (23–24 September 2012 in Cambridge, UK), the CJCR would like to run a forum offering research students/early career researchers an opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from the three main speakers (Michael Marissen, Ruth HaCohen, Jeanne Swack) and the other participants. This would provide an opportunity for up to four junior colleagues to present 15-minute papers, each followed by 15 minutes of discussion. The focus of your work need not necessarily be on Baroque music provided you engage ways in which ‘the Jew’ is identified in (a) musical context(s). If this sounds interesting to you, please contact the CJCR’s Academic Director, Lars Fischer (lf309@cam.ac.uk), at your earliest convenience. Invited participants will attend as the CJCR’s guests and receive a subsidy towards their travel costs.
