BASEES/ICCEES Regional Congress, 6-8 April 2013, Cambridge, UK (www.euroiccees2013.org) and Workshop 8-9 April 2013, Cambridge, following BASEES/ICCEES Regional Congress
We invite proposals for participation in the BASEES/ICCEES Regional Congress, 6-8 April 2013 and a workshop scheduled for 8-9 April 2013 on the theme of
“Collectivism, Forms of Collective Engagement, and Collective Identity in Russia, 1861-1941.” Scholars working on social, cultural, political or professional organizations and associations, key individuals, more loosely organized movements, small-scale collective groupings, and on collective identities more generally are invited to contribute. One of the principal objectives of the project is to shed new light on the evolution and transformation of the idea of collectivism and its practice through socially and politically engaged groups from the time of Emancipation through the Second World War; thus venturing across the historical watershed of 1917.
The organizers have two objectives:
First, we plan to propose a series of panels on the theme of collectivism for the BASEES/ICCEES Regional Congress to be held 5-8 April 2013 in Cambridge. Interested scholars should submit paper proposals including titles and a brief abstract no later than 10 September 2012 by contacting Matthias Neumann or Alice K. Pate.
Second, we plan to remain in Cambridge following the Congress to engage in fuller discussions with the goal of planning an edited volume or volumes on our theme. It is not required that all participants in the workshop provide a paper for the workshop. However, we will need a proposal for a paper including a proposed title and abstract if the scholar has plans to submit a paper for consideration in the project’s final publication. Please indicate your specific interest in the workshop by contacting Matthias Neumann or Alice K. Pate no later than 10 September 2012.
