BSSH North-West Sport and Leisure History Network: Autumn 2012 Workshop
Call for Papers
Saturday 24 November 2012
Melanie Tebbutt: Psychology and the Outdoor Movement in the 1920s.
Mike Huggins: The Regional and Local History of North-West Leisure: A Historiographical Review.
The organisers invite papers on any aspect of leisure history (including topics such as sport, cinemagoing, reading, music, tourism, shopping for pleasure, etc) from academics, private researchers and practitioners operating both regionally and nationally. The committee is keen to attract as broad a range of topics as possible so the workshop theme has deliberately been left open; papers on topics related to the North-West will be particularly welcome, although all proposals will be considered. All the presentations will be produced as podcasts and it is anticipated that there will be an opportunity for all presenters to contribute to a post-conference volume.
Proposals (200-400 words in length) for twenty minute papers should be formatted as a Word document and include a short biography of 50 words and an email address.
Please forward the proposal as an email attachment to Dave Day on D.J.Day@mmu.ac.uk by Friday 28 September
Any comments or queries to Dave at this address or on 07785545193.
About BSSH Regional Sport and Leisure History Networks
The British Society of Sports History (BSSH) has prioritised the establishment of regional networks to further encourage the study of sport and leisure history and to promote regional histories of sport and leisure. Regional networks facilitate interaction with local archives and museums and organise regular workshops to provide a regular forum to present and discuss new research.
If you would like to be added to the North West network's mailing list, please get in touch with Samantha-Jayne Oldfield at email@example.com.
