I write to bring to your attention the creation of a new regional research center : the Socio-Environmental Support Center – Tibetan and Loess Plateaus: http://www.loessplateau.org/.

The SSC-TLP is an independent, not-for-profit international research center based in Yinchuan, capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous region. We conduct research on a wide range of social topics and combine robust qualitative and quantitative methods with dedication and hard-working team of local and international scholars.

Our research plans include the continuous monitoring of social, politics and cultural trends in both the Tibetan and the Loess regions, with a special emphasis on local Tibetan and Muslim (Hui) issues and topics. The principal object of the SSC-TLP is to support the research for advancing the knowledge about the Loess and Tibetan Plateaus and establish a platform to provide up-to-date and detailed socio-environmental assessment to international NGOs and government agencies around the world.

Since we still are a young organization, we are now looking for partners, practitioners and scholars alike, to contribute to the development of the first international research cluster dedicated to the shared issues in this complex region.
