Historians and experts are needed to write one of the following essays:
1. The U.S. decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan. This essay will focus on the question of U.S. motives in deploying atomic weapons against Japan in 1945 – atomic diplomacy or military necessity?
2. U.S. military unpreparedness: Task Force Smith. This essay will look at how the first U.S. military units sent into battle in Korea were totally unprepared for a major conflict. Having served primarily in a constabulary capacity in Japan, they were neither properly trained nor equipped to face the North Korean invasion.
3. U.N. Coalition Warfare during the Korean Conflict. Look at how the U.S. worked with its allies in Korea. How important and effective was the military coalition: problems, successes, lessons learned, etc.
4. Operation Enduring Freedom (2001 – Present). This essay will examine the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States and the resulting war against Afghanistan beginning in October, 2001. It will also highlight some of the problems inherent in waging war while simultaneously engaging in nation building.
These are the last remaining essays of a volume under contract with Routledge. These essays will be approximately 4,500 words and will fit into a larger volume on U.S. diplomatic and military history since 1865. We will need a full draft of these essays within three weeks and will need any suggested edits to be completed within a week of receiving them from us. Please only respond if you think that you can work within this deadline. If interested please send a query and full c.v. to both Dr. Christos Frentzos and Dr. Antonio Thompson at the email addresses below. Those holding Ph.D.’s or area experts will be given immediate consideration. Please send us any questions. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Christos Frentoz, Ph.D. and
Antonio Thompson, Ph.D.
