Work/Force is an interdisciplinary conference that aims to serve as a platform for the analysis of the construction of diverse South African masculinities in the post-apartheid media (e.g. newspapers, film, advertising, art, magazines and blogs). The conference asks how discourses might be engendered, within the South African context, around concepts of culture, race and class as they pertain to the articulation of masculinities in mainstream and niche media entities both locally and internationally. Topics of interest of the papers received include: marginal identities, nationality, masculinity in crisis, violence and idealised masculinities. Registration is open to the public until 17 August 2012 by visiting http://www.sun.ac.za/workforce
