U. of Paris Sorbonne, 3-6 July 2013: joint conference of the 18th-Century Scottish Studies Society and the International Adam Smith Society. Plenary speakers: Michael Biziou, Emma Rothschild, and Amartya Sen. The conference will focus on the theme of empire in the eighteenth century, especially the role of Scots as participants and commentators. Special attention to the thought of Adam Smith, including its later influence and modern relevance. Deadline for proposals for papers and panels: 1 Dec 2012.
