ADE Fundraising Workshop: Deadline Extended to July 15
The second Association for Documentary Editing career development workshop, "Fundraising in the Private Sector¨ will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Omni in Charlottesville. It is funded in part by our grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
Who should attend? Anyone whose present or future responsibilities include raising funds from nongovernment sources.
How will you learn? Through an introduction to basic resources, interactive exercises, and role playing.
Who will conduct the workshop? Claire Holman Thompson, a consultant with 20 years¡¦ experience in fundraising for arts and humanities institutions.
What should you bring?
- Your annual budget, and the sources of these funds (including how much must be raised)
- A brief description of the project or initiative for which funding is sought, including budget and timeline (funds must be received by what date?)
- One target donor you have identified. Describe: why this person or foundation is a prospect, what prior involvement they have had with your organization, how much they have given in the past (to you and others), the intended ask amount, and what steps have been taken toward this goal.
What will you take away? A detailed knowledge of the fundraising process: identifying good prospects, successfully cultivating interested donors, determining appropriate "ask" amounts, and stewarding donors after a gift. In addition, participants will actively practice telling their organization or project's story to donors, and will leave confident that they can "make the ask!" Registration
