THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL ISAR ISTANBUL SYMPOSIUM CIVILIZATION AND CHANGE

The annual symposium series newly launched by ISAR (Istanbul Foundation for Research and Education) will this year address the issue of Civilization and Change. The challenges in politics, economy, religion, culture, and other similar fields faced by world civilizations between change and continuity will be examined. The aim is to discuss how such challenges have transformed institutions, social relations and peoples world of thought from the view of various disciplines. On the one hand, the continuing features that constitute civilization, and on the other, the elements, causes, and processes of change will be studied. This year the keynote speaker is Prof. Tahsin Görgün from Istanbul 29 Mayis University.
This symposium is organized to create a setting for young scholars to share their research with international academia. The symposium committee is pleased to invite all interested graduate students and scholars from all disciplines to submit abstracts for the symposium.
The symposium will take place in Istanbul. The language of the symposium is Turkish, English and Arabic. The due date to submit abstracts (max. 250 words) is July 15, 2012, and the results will be announced on July 25, 2012. The author of the accepted submissions should send their full paper to the organization committee before October 15, 2012.
