The Nigerian Journal of the Humanities (NJH) is published annually by the Faculty of Arts, University of Benin. Original and well-researched papers are hereby invited from interested scholars for possible publication in the next edition of the journal. Papers submitted for consideration must meet the following requirements:
1. Manuscripts may be submitted in either English or French with an abstract of not more than 250 words. Any article written in French should include an English translation of the abstract.
2. Each article must be an original work of the author, and make a distinct contribution to knowledge.
3. The article should not be under simultaneous consideration for publication elsewhere.
4. Manuscripts, which should not be more than 8000 words, should be typed double-spaced on A4 paper, Times New Roman, 12 points font size.
5. The full name (surname last, and no initials), address, current status, institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number of the author(s) should only appear on the title page.
6. References should be documented in the MLA format, highlights of which are:
a. Citations within the text should include author’s name, year and page, e.g., Glen (1993:175), or (Glen, 1993:175).
b. References, which should be arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name and single-spaced, should be organized at the end of the paper and titled ‘Works Cited’.
c. Endnotes should be arranged on the page before the ‘Works Cited’ page and titled ‘Notes’.
d. Titles of books and periodicals should be italicised.
e. Book citations should follow these examples: Bernard, Fonlon. To Every African Freshman. Victoria: The Cameroon Times, 1965. Books with four or more authors: Baldwin, Richard et al. Economic Geography and Public Policy. Princeton UP, 2003. Journal articles: Mann, Glen. “The Third Man: Pulp Fiction and Art Film”. Literature/ Film Quarterly 21.3 (1993): 171-178. For two or more books with the same title, replace author’s name with three hyphens.
7. Articles should be submitted electronically, as email attachment, to nghumanitiesjournal@uniben.edu, and a copy to nghumanitiesjournal@gmail.com
8. Decisions on submitted articles are normally communicated to authors not later than ten weeks after initial acknowledgement.
9. Deadline for submission of articles for the current number is 28 September 2012.
