LOVA International Summer School 2012
“Learning by Doing” - Anthropology, Gender & Ethnographic Fieldwork 9 – 13 July 2012, Amsterdam
The LOVA International Summer School, 2012 focus is on fieldwork. Topics include technology & gender, beauty & body, the discourse of romantic love, observing hidden populations such as sex-workers and sexual citizenship in Amsterdam, violence & masculinity in Latin America and more. Field excursions in Amsterdam combined with lectures and workshops make our summer school a unique academic learning experience. Our tutors are experienced university teachers and young trained anthropologists.
Requirements are a BA in social sciences, anthropology, or a related field. Proficient level of academic English is needed. Life long learners and professionals with an interest in anthropology, gender and ethnographic fieldwork are very welcome.
Venue
The LOVA ISS will be hosted at CEDLA, the Centre for Latin-American Research and Documentation (www.cedla.uva.nl), located at Keizersgracht no. 395-397. CEDLA provides the LOVA ISS with classrooms as well as a leisure garden and free Internet access.
Registration can be completed the first day upon arrival. We will be ready to receive you from 9.00 a.m. onwards. Daily schedule: from 9.00 to 17.30 starting on Monday the 9th of July till Friday the 13th of July, with optional evening program.

Tuition Fee
295,- Euro, plus 15,- Euro administration fee
(the last week before the deadline we can offer a discount of 45,- Euro)

The tuition fee includes, lunches, coffee, tea, refreshments, free internet and library access at the CEDLA, all lectures and all workshops, all excursions mentioned in the program, course material, yoga at location. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance after completing the courses.
