The Mother Jones Commemorative Committee based in Cork, Ireland is issuing the following call for papers.
Labor leader Mother Jones will be memorialized in Cork City, the place of her birth, in the First Annual Mother Jones Festival (31st July - 2nd August 2012). The Committee is organizing a festival which will include lectures, an exhibit, a film, a concert, and a local tour. We are attempting to gauge interest in including a symposium for scholars to present their research on Mother Jones. We are particularly focused on increasing local name recognition of Mother Jones, so we are looking for papers about the life of Mother Jones, her organizing activities, and any connections which may be drawn to Ireland.
Academics and graduate students who are interested in presenting a 15-20 minute talk on their research should submit a 200-300 word abstract to Sara.Breitenfeldt@uwmalumni.com by 25th June 2012.
For more information on the festival please see http://motherjones175.wordpress.com/
