The Center for Studies in Music and Media (MusiMid) invites researchers to participate in the 8th International Conference on Music and Media, to be held from 19 to 21 September at the School of Arts and Communications, Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil (ECA-USP)
The umbrella theme for this 8th meeting is the migrant music in all its extensions and effects within the different cultures in which they accommodate. The sessions will be organized around four main strands:
1- From communities to ghettos: Music as an element of identity and relationship among migrants, but also as a sign of exclusion;
2- Repossession and resistance of memory: Dialogues and dialogisms between cultures, creating new forms of cultural life through a nomadic process;
3- Media culture and world music: The initiatives, by the entertainment industry, derived from the movement of people and cultures;
4- New worlds, new musical signs: War and exile and its impact on artistic creation, driven by the movement of their artists.
** Proposals Submission
Three categories of presentations will be accepted: written texts, posters, and audiovisuals (DVD format). An abstract (200-250 words) must be sent prior to May 20 to the following e-mail email@example.com. Abstracts must be accompanied by a title, 5-10 references, 3-5 keywords, and a biographical note (up to 5 lines). Results will be announced until June 30 at the webpage www.musimid.blogspot.com and authors will be directly notified through e-mail.

U$ 40.00. International presenters are allowed to pay for their registration upon their arrival.
