Civil War Teacher Institute
|
Join the Civil War Trust for its National Teacher Institute, July 12-15 in Charleston, SC. Now in its 11th year, the Institute provides K12 educators with workshops, presentations, and tours rich with content and instructional strategies for teaching the American Civil War.
This years institute will include keynote speakers: Bob Zeller, president of the Center for Civil War Photography, and author, Gordon Rhea. Workshops will focus on a wide range of topics from teaching Civil War monuments to using graphic novels to the origins of secession. The Institute also features a day-long tour on Saturday, July 14th with the highlight being a private, after-hours tour of Fort Sumter followed by a dinner on board the cruise ship in Charleston Harbor. *There is a minimal cost associated with the Preconference Workshop and the Optional Tour, but these are optional events. July 13th and 14th are free with a $100 deposit.
