The Holocaust survivors' reintegration into post-war society was, in spite of well-meanings of the absorbing society, cumbersome and sometimes painful. This situation has many and complicated reasons, some of which may be due to group encounters and to cumbersome bureaucratic procedures.
In the previous conferences the adequacy of this encounter for building a collective memory (first conference) and different interpretations of this encounter were examined, as well as its expressions in the art (second conference).
In the present conference the study the survivors' encounter with the medical and juridical professions was intended, mainly through their combined activity with regard to indemnification. This procedure was taxing, sometimes causing the survivors years of struggles for getting what actually they had deserved in the first place. This procedure will be examined from the juridical and medical points of view and the unavoidable involvement of bureaucracy.
