Sports Heritage Symposium

National Football Museum, Manchester.
This event aims to bring together all those with an interest in sports heritage. It will address key questions including:
• How can we best interpret sports history in both specialist sports museums and the wider museums and heritage sector?
• How can museums and archives work in partnership with sports clubs to preserve their history?
• How can those engaged in sports heritage best work in partnership?
• What role can communities play in interpreting their sports heritage?
Delegates will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the new National Football Museum.

Sports museum and archive staff and volunteers
Historians with an interest in sports heritage
Museum staff from any museum or archive which needs or wants to relate sport as a subject
Sports Governing Bodies with a collection or an interest in developing one
Sports clubs with an interest in developing a collection or museum
Private collectors
Cultural policy decision makers

The event is linked to an International Football Institute (IFI) symposium to be held on the 21st September also at the National Football Museum. The event will explore similar issues specifically for the field of football in museums.
