Call for Papers: Teaching Outside the (Classroom) Box. The March 2013 Journal of American History “Textbooks and Teaching” section will focus on U.S. history courses that venture beyond the classroom setting. How have instructors and students extended the classroom through collaborations with institutions or organizations beyond the campus? What are the material and pedagogical products of such relationships, for the students and for the partner institutions? Essays should be 3,000-4,500 words in length (10-15 double-spaced pages), including notes. Essays should ideally situate particular projects within the scholarship of teaching and learning in history. Please direct inquiries to Scott Casper, Contributing Editor, Textbooks and Teaching, at casper@unr.edu. Submissions are due no later than August 1, 2012, to casper@unr.edu; authors will be notified by August 31 whether their essays have been accepted.
