Centre for Advanced Medieval Studies has recently been established by a group of medievalists from Belgrade (employed at the Institute of History, Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Institute for Byzantine Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Faculty of Philosophy and the National Library of Serbia). The Centre will promote the study of the medieval past in South-Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. In accordance with the proclaimed goals of the international scientific cooperation, the Centre has launched a journal named Initial - A Review of Medieval Studies, which will be publishing scholarly contributions (papers, source materials, reviews etc.) from all academic fields concerning medieval subject matters.
