The lead author/editor of the “Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Drugs: The Physiology, Culture, and History of Illicit Substance Use” is seeking contributors for this work set to be published by ABC-CLIO, Greenwood Press, in 2014. This cross-disciplinary work will offer an overview of the subject by providing an inventory of drugs and how they affect the body, drug addiction and treatment. Wide ranging cultural and legal aspects of drug use, such as drug legalization, or their use in the course of spiritual rituals, will also be covered. It will discuss differing cultural attitudes about drug use and how attitudes towards drugs have change through history and historical figures on the topic. It will also cover the present attempts of society and government to regulate their use and how these policies/attitudes have changed over time. There is a wide range of possible entries (500-2500 words) and new ideas for entries are very welcome. Please contact Dr. Todd Coy at rcoy@colby-sawyer.edu for more information concerning the lists of entries and more detail about the process.
