Reaktion Books are inviting proposals on a range of subjects for the recently-launched 'Reverb' Series of books on music.
Books in the 'Reverb' Series will look at the connections between music, artists and performers, musical cultures and places. It explores how our cultural and historical understanding of times and places may help us to appreciate a wide variety of music, and vice versa.
In general, the series will feature three kinds of approach:
1. books that focus on the relationship between artists / performers and particular times and places
2. books that look at the affinity between music and place in particular cultures or national traditions
3. books that examine the way in which time and place has been idealised / mythologised in music, song and performance
