What does the Nigerian Theatre mean in an era when the home video and the forces of globalization have redefined the cultural commodities being produced and consumed? Who has the right to speak about Nigerian theatre and from which positions? Is there any connection between the Nigerian theatre, media, popular culture and social change? These are some of the questions to be addressed by this conference taking place at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, scholars and practitioners to examine the above issues in depth by exploring the dynamics and impact of the Nigerian theatre and media in the creation of popular culture and on the process of global change.
